International Exchange: Golden Thread's PROJECT ALO?

To circumvent US travel and visa obstacles for Middle Eastern artists, PROJECT ALO?, an international mobile video exchange project was launched in 2013.

PROJECT ALO? engaged five teams of Middle Eastern artists based in the US and based in the Middle East who created original one-minute videos on their smart phone in response to their partner’s video. While some conversations remained abstract, distant, others reflected a deep need for connection and understanding. A number of participating artists developed lasting friendships and collaborated on other projects. I created a short play, REACHING OUT for ReOrient Festival 2015 incorporating select videos.
