The Tutor (spring 2024)

A study of preconceived notions and the hypocrisies that drive them, The Tutor is a provocative look at the cost of owning one’s truth. Directed by Sahar Assaf, with dramaturgy by Becca Wolf. World Premiere Commission by The New Conservatory Theatre Center. Presented in Association with Golden Thread Productions. (Run April 5-May 12, 2024)

La MaMa Umbria 2023

I'm excited to lead a workshop at La Mama Umbria International Symposium for Directors this summer! In my session (July 25 to August 1, 2023), participants will experiment with poetry as dramatic text. We will focus on Persian poetry and dabble in traditional Iranian performance styles including Naghali and Ta’zieh, as foundational tools to incorporate into our process.

Consulting

I'm a passionate advocate for Middle Eastern theatre and theatre-makers to help put our stories on American stages. In spring 2023, I served as cultural consultant at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, TheatreWorks, and Heartbeat Opera. I also serve as advisor on a number of grant programs, and work with select theatre companies on their strategic planning, donor cultivation, and community development.
